- کاسه سهتار باید به حالت مایل روی ران راست جا بیفتد تا وزن دسته توسط تنه و پا مهار شود
- دست چپ نوازنده سهتار نباید وزن دسته ساز را تحمل کند بلکه باید کاملاً آزاد و سبک روی پرده‌ها بلغزد
- ضربه مضراب سهتار فقط از حرکت بند انتهایی انگشت اشاره سرچشمه می‌گیرد
- مچ و ساعد دست راست باید در تمام طول مضراب‌زدن کاملاً بی‌حرکت و آرام بمانند
- انگشت شست دست راست به آرامی روی لبه یا سطح صفحه چوبی سهتار قرار می‌گیرد
- انگشتان کوچک (انگشت ۳ و ۴) به صورت ملایم روی صفحه تکیه داده می‌شوند تا دست موقع مضراب زدن شناور نشود
- عبور نرم مضراب و هدایت ملایم انگشت به داخل گودی دست صدای سهتار را پخته و بم می‌کند
- ضربه زدن ناگهانی و نوک‌زدن به سیم باعث صدای گوش‌خراش و بدون عمق در سهتار می‌شود
- انقباض ناخودآگاه شانه‌ها هنگام نگه داشتن سهتار علت اصلی خستگی زودهنگام است
- نوازنده باید پیش از هر بار مضراب زدن شانه‌ها را کاملاً رها و افتاده نگه دارد
- شناسایی نقاط اتکا و مهار دست راست روی صفحه سهتار
- ربط دادن شیوه رهاسازی انگشت اشاره به جنس صدای تولید شده از سیم سهتار
- نوک انگشت باید میلی‌متری دقیقاً پشت گره پرده قرار بگیرد
- گذاشتن انگشت درست روی خود پرده باعث خفگی صدا می‌شود
- فاصله گرفتن از پرده به سمت عقب موجب وزوز یا گز زدن سیم سهتار می‌گردد
- فشار سیم فقط تا حدی لازم است که به سطح چوب دسته بچسبد و صدا شفاف شود
